Simulation Lab Student Assistant Support activities of the College of Nursing Simulation labs. The simulation labs in the college of nursing are used for clinical preparation for students within our college. This preparation includes training students in the psychomotor, clinical reasoning and communication skills needed to effectively perform the nurse role. The student assistant role is crucial to prepare the needed supplies to set up and run these labs. Responsibilities Associated with the Position: Tasks to be completed within this role include, but are not limited to, organization of lab supplies and equipment, recycling of supplies in accordance with Recover, Restore, Reuse recycling program, and set up/break down of labs. Student workers will work in both the 207 Learning Lab, as well as the HITS Lab, based upon the current need of each space. Student workers may be asked to work independently or in groups to complete various tasks. In addition, workers may choose to participate in scenarios as standardized patients, as long as the activities/cases do not jeopardize or interfere with their chosen nursing curriculum. Evaluation Procedure: Student assistants work under the direction and supervision of simulation staff (Simulation Director and Learning Lab Coordinator). They are evaluated according to completion of tasks, ability to correctly carry out individual responsibilities of the position, and ability to communicate effectively with supervisors. Schedule: Hours are flexible around student courses. Students may work up to 20 hours per week, between the hours of 8 am and 7 pm when they are not in class. The position requires a minimum of at least 10 hrs of committed time, however, the majority of responsibilities within the position are not time dependent. |
