Job Description

The Kao ICS is managed by dedicated paid student consultants who assist fellow students, staff, and faculty, ensure shop safety, perform maintenance, and keep the studio running smoothly every day. As a student consultant at ICS, you'll be part of a close-knit team that works together to make ICS an exceptional space for everyone. You'll gain valuable experience and skills that will benefit your future career while contributing to the success of our community.

Purpose or Role of the Position Within the Organization:
Assist students with equipment and services provided by the Innovation and Collaboration Studio.
Responsibilities Associated with the Position:
Student will be trained to safely and effectively assist with:

  • CAD Modeling

  • 3D Printing

  • Laser Cutting

  • Metal Shop ( Waterjet, CNC Mill-Embroidery-Lathe, Welding Station, Drill Press, Bandsaw )

  • Electronics Lab and Visualization Lab (Assembly and Maintenance)

  • Wood Shop Equipment

  • Paint Booth

  • Installation and Repair of Equipment

  • Material Checkout

Schedule:

10 hours/week average, during ICS open hours (10 a.m.-6 p.m.). Extra hours are provided through administration for ICS special projects and activities. Entire academic year, including summer sessions.

Evaluation Procedure:


Students and direct supervisors will have open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. Formal performance evaluations at least one time per semester.
