Job Description

Purpose or Role of the Position within the Organization:
Student Office Assistant will assist and support the Haslam College of Business, Office of Access & Community Connections in efficiently implementing events within the Haslam College of Business and events across the University, as necessary.
Responsibilities Associated with the position:
Greet visitors to the office and direct them to the appropriate staff member in the Office of Acess & Community Connections; Document management including copying and scanning; Answer phones and take messages or direct calls to appropriate personnel; Cover front desk during lunches, breaks and meetings; Assist with special projects as assigned; Delivery to other campus offices and departments; Help create paper programs for office events.

Schedule:
10-20 hours per week for the entire year with the option of working summer semester. Work is conducted during normal business hours 8AM-5PM. No weekend or evening work is necessary.

Qualifications Specific to the Position:
Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities at once; proficiency with computer systems and applications; Proficiency with social media sites; Discretion and ability to respect confidentiality requirements; Strong interpersonal skills; Strong customer service skills; Attention to details; Highest standard of personal and professional conduct.

Evaluation Procedure

Evaluation Procedure:
Students and their direct supervisors will have open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. When a student’s performance or conduct is unsatisfactory, disciplinary action may be taken which includes first a verbal warning, then a written letter of disciplinary warning and finally a letter of disciplinary warning or termination.

Annual evaluations will not be given, however, when a student's conduct is unsatisfactory, disciplinary action may be taken which includes first a verbal warning, then a written letter of disciplinary warning and finally a letter of disciplinary warning or termination.
