Purpose or Role of the Position within the Organization: This position requires assistance with general reception and support of Micro department faculty, staff, student and at times the public. Microbiology is a unit in the College of Arts and Sciences which serves undergraduates as well as having a graduate program. There are approximately 18 faculty and 45 graduate students in our unit. Responsibilities Associated with the Position: Greet visitors and assist with needs Word-processing, filing, photocopying as needed Answer departmental phone and assist with requests/concerns Hand-deliver documents to various campus offices Sort departmental mail Evaluation procedure: The student report to direct supervisor in the Microbiology office. The students must report prior to their scheduled shift if they need to miss work. We have open communication. The supervisor is almost always available and works in the same office suite. Schedule: Each student worker has an individual schedule based on their academic schedule. A work schedule is set at the beginning of each semester worked. Typically, students work between 10-20 hours per week. |
