Job Description

Purpose or Role of the Position within the Organization:
The Tombras School of Advertising & Public Relations (ADPR), is located inside the College of Communication & Information (CCI). We provide essential functions to students, parents, and alumni of the department. This role primarily supports the faculty and staff members of this department. Student workers will assist in delivering quality service via telephone, email, and in-person visits.

Responsibilities Associated with the Position:
Develop a strong working knowledge of courses offered in the school. Answer questions and provide essential information prospective, current, and former students, parents/families, alumni, and faculty. Deliver high quality customer service via telephone, email, and in person. Assist in managing the set-up and use of common spaces. Assist with communication, event planning, and execution.

Schedule:

10-20 hours per week for the entire academic year (August through May with the option of working the summer sessions) during open office hours (8am-5pm Monday-Friday).

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications Specific to the Position:
Must be an undergraduate student and be enrolled with good academic standing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Knowledge of and experience with the University of Tennessee. Must be able to answer University-related questions asked by the students, parents, and staff professionally. Must possess good organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Sensitive to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Ability to meet expectations in a variety of environments. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to learn new technologies. Familiarity with social media.

Evaluation Procedure

Students will have open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. Direct supervisors will conduct a formal performance review at least once per semester.  Each student will undergo an annual evaluation.
