Duties include: weeding, watering, mulching, transplanting; leaf-blowing, weed-trimming and other duties that may be assigned within the scope of gardens and research greenhouse operations. Experience not required. Students will consult with Gardens horticulture staff to receive training and direction though students should be self-initiating under minimal supervision. Recognized in 2013 as the official botanical gardens of the state of Tennessee, the University of Tennessee Gardens are part of the UT Institute of Agriculture. The gardens showcase and evaluate thousands of annuals, perennials, herbs, tropical plants, trees, shrubs, vegetables and ornamental grasses each year. The gardens are open during all seasons and are free to the public. Work Study Student Gardeners will assist the UT Gardens greenhouse and garden staff in maintaining the UT Gardens. |
