Job Description

Purpose or Role of the Position Within the Organization:  This position will assist and support the department in efficiently administering the work of the Tennessee State 4-H Office, which is a main part of the department’s mission.

 

Responsibilities Associated with the Position: 

·         Assist with the management of office organizational tasks such as inventory, departmental and motor pool vehicles, event preparation, and equipment storage.

·         Delivery to other campus offices and departments

·         Document management, to include scanning, printing, classifying, archiving and filing

·         Greet visitors and direct them to appropriate department personnel

·         Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate queues or personnel

·         Communicate via email with clients and department personnel regarding job tasks

·         Cover phones, desks or work stations during personnel breaks and meetings

       Assist for prep for statewide 4-H events that may include, printing nametags, banquet setup, certificates and/or other items as needed.

·         Assist with special projects as assigned

 

Schedule:   15-20 hours per week during open office hours (8am-5pm Monday-Friday).  Possibility for some event assistance after regular business hours with approval only.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

·         Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities at once 

·         Ability to seek out work to be done as tasks are completed

·         Proficiency with computer systems and applications, specifically Microsoft Office

·         Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

·         Strong organizational skills

·         Driver’s license for motor pool and departmental vehicle management

·         Attention to detail. 

       Some knowledge of  the 4-H program is helpful but not required.

Evaluation Procedure

Evaluation Procedure:  Students and direct supervisors will have open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development.  Direct supervisors will conduct a formal performance evaluation at least one time per regular semester.
