Job Description

Visitor Services Associates will staff the main desk to welcome each visitor to the museum, inform them of current exhibitions and current or upcoming programming, and answer the phone. They will walk through the exhibit spaces and engage visitors to provide directions or other general information as needed. They will help to maintain a clean environment by performing light housekeeping duties. This position reports to the museum’s Visitor Services Ambassador.

 

Some Key Duties & Tasks:

Represent the museum in a welcoming, energetic, professional, and friendly way.

Greet and check-in each visitor with compassion and efficiency.

Direct visitors/guests to restrooms and elevator. Help visitors/guests use the elevator as needed.

Direct students to auditorium.

Help collect visitor feedback.

Encourage visitors to become Museum Members.

Keep the desk neat and orderly. 

Answering the museum’s main phoneline.

Walk through galleries and lobby to ensure cleanliness and safety.

Maintain engagement areas and occassionally lead small activities with visitors.

Opportunities to help with other museum and educational events in the future.

Job Requirements

Requirements & Necessary Skills:

Must be currently enrolled as a student at UT.

Friendly and engaging personality that enjoys interacting with the general public.

Reliable and responsible person that enjoys being part of a team.

Ability to use or learn to use an iPad with Google & Microsoft Suites of applications.

Ability and willingness to follow protocols from the university and museum, as well as, enforce these policies with the guidance of the CSO and Visitor Services Coordinator.

 

Job Requirements:

This position is year-round.

Hours: Monday – Saturday 8:45 AM – 5:00 PM, Sunday 11:45 AM – 4:00 PM 

-All shifts will be scheduled during these hours.

-There may be opportunities to work events or programming outside of these hours.

Evaluation Procedure

We will meet with the student once a semester to discuss job performance and professional goals.
