Job Description

The Wang lab is using biochemistry, genomics and bioinformatics, cellular and molecular biology tools to understand the mechanism and function of programmed DNA elimination, a unique form of DNA loss, chromosome end remodeling, and gene silencing (https://dnaelimination.utk.edu/). We are using various nematodes as model systems to study this process.

Undergraduate Lab Assistant will have primary responsibility for preparing food for worm stocks, help maintaining worm culture, and contribute to other routine laboratory functions. 
Job Requirements

1. Must be an undergraduate student and be enrolled with good academic standing at the University of Tennessee.

2.  Must be reliable and show strong attention to detail.

3. Prepare worm medium.

4. Assist with maintenance of worm stocks.

5. Starting bacteria cultures.

6. Clean glassware.

7. Other lab related duties, as needed

 

 

 

 

 
Evaluation Procedure

Students & direct supervision will have open & ongoing communication regarding performance and development. Direct supervisors will conduct a formal performance evaluation at one time per semester.
