Job Description

The Office of Undergraduate Research & Fellowships within the Division of Student Success is searching for a Map Experience Designer to update and upgrade our ESRI Storymap that illustrates UTK undergraduate student achievement related to research & fellowships. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and execute repairs, fixes, additions, and upgrades.
  • Test and improve accessibility and user experience. 
  • Ensure browser capability.  
  • Manage, organize, and clean data.  
  • Provide cartographic design suggestions and insight. 
  • Strong Visual Design - Color Schemes, Typography, Spacing, etc

Work up to the maximum hours allowed by work-study for the summer. Possibility to extend to 5-10 hours per week for the fall and spring. Work hours and location are flexible, given the nature of the work.
Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must be work-study eligible
  • Must be at least a 3rd year 
  • Must have worked with ESRI StoryMap
  • Ideally has some experience with cartography. 
  • Ideally is a geography major or minor. 
  • Ideally has some knowledge of WordPress and worked with the program before 
  • Great Interpersonal Skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computer systems and programs
  • Ability to work independently 
Evaluation Procedure

Students and direct supervisors will have open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. Direct supervisors will conduct a formal performance evaluation at least one time per academic year.
