Job Description

The Transfer Center Transfer Ambassador serves as a principal student liaison for prospective transfer students and their families visiting the University of Tennessee campus. This ambassador plays an essential role in the university’s recruitment and enrollment efforts by sharing personal insights, offering guidance, and creating a welcoming environment for future Volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to Transfer Center staff, including clerical assistance and event preparation.
  • Assist with answering inbound Transfer Center phone calls and provide front desk coverage for Undergraduate Admissions
  • Support large-scale recruitment events such as Open Houses, Transfer Days, and other visit programs.
  • Assist with social media outreach to promote transfer student recruitment initiatives and highlight student involvement.
  • Make targeted phone calls to transfer applicants in various stages of the admissions process (e.g., awaiting materials, admitted but not confirmed, or confirmed but not registered).
  • Facilitate specialized tours for unique college groups or individual requests, as needed.

 

Job Requirements
  • Confidence in public speaking, or a willingness to learn to speak effectively in both small and large group settings.
  • Professional and friendly communication skills, including the ability to make and receive phone calls with courtesy and clarity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • General proficiency with computer systems and a willingness to learn new applications (training will be provided).
  • Ability to take direction from multiple Transfer Center staff members and adapt to varying tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations.

 

Evaluation Procedure

 

Student and direct supervisor will have open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. Direct evaluation of performance will occur at least one time per semester.
