Job Description

The Center for Financial Wellness (CFW) delivers high impact practices to increase financial wellness knowledge and money management skills by delivering high-quality workshops, individualized coaching, and other learning experiences. CFW is a part of the Division of Enrollment Management, which includes offices such as One Stop Student Services, Office of the Registrar, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

CFW is looking to hire Student Support Assistants. A Student Support Assistant has the responsibility of welcoming visitors and guests to CFW and promoting the services of the CFW through creating engaging social and digital media. This position is critical to the public image and messaging of the CFW.

A Student Support Assistant has two main duties:

1. Ensure the CFW front desk is covered during their assigned shift and welcoming and assisting visitors and guests, answering telephone calls, and keeping the space organized.

2. Assist with social and digital trends and research for CFW. The Student Support Assistant will work both with the staff of CFW and the Enrollment Management Communications team to identify standard template and creative needs and provide student perspective and research trends for strategy. They will also research trends and find new ways to highlight the financial wellness experience around UTK’s campus.

Job Requirements

Duties / Responsibilities

Welcome and assist incoming visitors and guests

Answer CFW’s main phone line

Keep front desk clutter free and organized and the rest of the space clean and professional looking for visitors and guests

Assists in the creation of workshops, presentations, outreach, and marketing

Research other universities and the strategies they use on social platforms

Keep up with new trends and work to put a Volunteer twist on them

Work on various tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications

Must have Federal Work-Study

Must be an enrolled student (undergraduate or graduate) with good academic and financial standing at the University of Tennessee Knoxville

Must be able to commit to two semester minimum and at least 10 hours a week

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to comfortably work with others and maintain confidentiality

Sensitive to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and   diverse backgrounds

Preferred qualifications

       Strong customer service skills

Ability to work both independently and as a team member

Ability to learn and adhere to university brand standards and divisional marketing practices

Possess good organization skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Knowledge of social media platforms

 

Evaluation Procedure

Student performance will be evaluated after 30 days from the student's first day of each semester.  Students will have a second evaluation at the end of each semester. Evaluations are a learning tool to assist the student in further developing their work skills and abilities, and functions as an indicator of current job performance and expectations.

These evaluations are used in addition to intentional conversations where supervisors are checking in formally and informally with students throughout their employment to strengthen the connections with students.

Student should expect feedback throughout their employment as needed.
