The Zero Waste Assistant will be expected to assist with Zero Waste Events, football game-days, implementation of My Tiny Trash, the Green Office program, bin and signage standardization, and waste audits. This position will involve communication skills, some physical labor, and occasionally digging through trash. Zero waste efforts are an integral part of reaching UTK’s goal of reaching a 50% diversion rate by 2030.

Willingness to learn all about recycling and trash (what can go where)
Ready to lift, move, carry, and wash bins (ability to lift 30lbs)
Not afraid to get dirty
Required to work some football games in the fall.
Willing to work with multiple departments to achieve Zero Waste for events
Ability to work as liason between catering and event stakholders
Schedule: Flexible, 10-20 hours per week for the entirety of the academic school year including the summer sessions, if available. Typically, these hours will be Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm, but our department will occasionally work special events late at night or weekends (e.g., during UT football games)
