Job Description

Pond Gap Elementary (4530 Papermill Drive in Knoxville) seeks an intersted Garden Work Study to help with ongoing garden programming, upkeep of trails and food forest, and assistance in events within the space for students, families, and the broader community.
Job Requirements

Candidates will have a passion for the outdoors and outdoor learning with youth, be willing to do grounds work to promote garden upkeep alongside programming, events, and working with children in the space.  A positive, solutions-oriented attitude and growth-mindset is required.  Transportation to/from the school site required. Daily tasks will include:

  • Assist the AmeriCorps member with ongoing trail maintenance
  • Co-create lessons for students
  • Maintain garden beds
  • Help with outreach to community about garden
  • Facilitate community work days
  • Learn more about the production of food in the space, invasives, and
Evaluation Procedure

Day-to-day oversight will be onsite via the Community School Coordinator and the FT AmeriCorps.  Weekly meetings with on campus supervisor, director of the University-Assisted Community School strategy.  Monthly check-ins and bi-annual evaluation.
