Job Description

As a Run Crew Member, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of theatrical productions within Clarence Brown Theatre. This Federal Work Study position offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the behind-the-scenes magic of live performances while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic theatre environment.

Job Requirements

As a Run Crew Member, you'll have the exciting opportunity to be assigned one specific departmental task that aligns with your interests within the theatre department. This task could range from assisting with lighting setups, sound management, or even working closely with the director on special effects. This hands-on experience allows you to delve deeper into a specific aspect of theatre production, enhancing your overall skill set and providing valuable insights into your chosen area of focus.

 

Nights and weekends are typically required for work, with limited flexibility based on production schedules. If you’re unsure about your schedule and how it might align with a production reach out ahead of time to see how we can work around it!

 

  • Key Responsibilities: 

  • Set Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance to ensure the safety and functionality of set pieces.
  • Props Management:
    • Collaborate with the props team to ensure all necessary props are ready and in their designated places before each performance.
    • Responsible for the organization and maintenance of props.
  • Costume Assistance:
    • Provide support to the costume department by assisting actors with quick changes during performances.
    • Ensure that costumes are properly cared for and stored.
  • Stage Changes and Scene Transitions:
    • Execute efficient and seamless stage changes during performances, following the cues provided by stage management.
    • Collaborate with fellow crew members to ensure smooth scene transitions.
  • Technical Assistance:
    • Work closely with the technical crew to set up and operate audio-visual equipment as needed.
    • Troubleshoot and address any technical issues that may arise during performances.
  • Rehearsal Attendance:
    • Attend scheduled rehearsals to familiarize yourself with the production and understand the specific requirements of the run crew.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with fellow run crew members, stage managers, and other production staff to ensure effective communication and coordination.
    • Respond promptly to instructions from the stage management team.
  • Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for theatre and a keen interest in behind-the-scenes production.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on safety and precision.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

At the end of each show, our Production Stage Manager will chat with you about your journey and contributions, making sure your talents shine.
