Job Description

Students in this position will work in the School of Art’s equipment checkout room, the Media Pool.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting and aiding students and faculty during equipment checkouts.

  • Offering guidance on the proper handling of equipment.

  • Ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.

  • Managing equipment checkouts through our computerized system.

  • Maintaining equipment inventory records.

  • Conducting pre and post-checkout inspections to guarantee equipment completeness and condition.

  • Promptly reporting overdue or damaged equipment to the appropriate staff.

  • Additional administrative tasks or special projects as directed.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain orderly equipment storage.

  • Commitment to follow through on projects spanning multiple work sessions.

  • Willingness to troubleshoot technology issues as they arise.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and applications, including Excel and Outlook.

  • Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, comfortable interacting with students, staff, faculty, supervisors, and coworkers.

  • Attention to detail.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Some prior experience with cameras or other multimedia equipment usage.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.

  • An interest in art, photography, or film production.

 

The Media Pool operates during the following hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 4 pm. We are looking for students available to work during those hours. Work study allows for anywhere from 10 to 29.5 hours per week for the entire academic year (August – May), and we are flexible within that hourly range.

 
Evaluation Procedure

Students and direct supervisors will have open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. Direct supervisor will conduct a formal performance evaluation at least one time per semester. Evaluation criteria include punctuality, reliability, and communication skills.
