Job Description

The Office of Dwight Hutchins Expanding Access to Engineering Program (EAEP) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a work study Outreach and Recruitment Assistant. Reporting to the Director of EAEP, this position is responsible for assisting in the development and management of enrichment programming focusing on areas of outreach and recruitment for students within the Tickle College of Engineering.

Job Requirements

Outreach and Recruitment assistant for Hutchins Expanding Access to Engineering Program (EAEP) is responsible for but are not limited to:

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as email correspondence, data entry, flyer creation, and social media promotion
  • Maintain event spreadsheets, help track attendance, and collect survey data
  • Provide front-line customer service to guests, students, and families visiting the office 
  • Assist with college fairs, school visits, and campus-based recruitment events by sharing student experiences, answering questions, and preparing materials.
  • Help plan and staff large-scale outreach programs like Engineer’s Day and Breakfast of Champions.
  • Help develop or assemble recruitment materials and information packets
  • Support the pre-college application process by reviewing submitted applications and helping manage communication with applicants and families.
  • Participate in preparing outreach communications (emails, flyers, newsletters) and updating contact spreadsheets or databases.

 

Note: Some weekend work is required for events.

Evaluation Procedure

The student evaluation process is designed to provide positive and constructive feedback regarding the work study student’s performance during the academic year/summer. To aid in this process, evaluations should be completed once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester. Each semester, the work study student should complete self-evaluation to submit to their direct supervisor. The direct supervisor will also schedule an individual meeting with the work study student to complete their evaluation for the semester.
