Job Description

 

Expectations:

The Ticket Scanner position is for experienced students in their second year of Federal Work Study and returning CBT FWS students. Ticket Scanners are expected to provide consistently positive experiences at the Clarence Brown Theatre (CBT) by quickly and safely ushering patrons into the theatre while accurately scanning tickets.  Ticket Scanners uphold house policies while remaining aware of, and enforcing when necessary, emergency procedures.  Scanners will also be expected to assist in the concessions stand during intermission and train new employees during their shifts.

Ticket Scanners are responsible for the quick and efficient entry of all CBT audiences. Scanners must be aware of potential safety concerns and work to make patrons comfortable from the time of arrival to departure.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a good audience experience by providing outstanding customer service
  • Quickly and accurately scan tickets to ensure prompt start times for performances
  • Enforce house policies regarding ticket admission, age limits, photos, and concessions
  • Support House Manager Assistants in the concessions stand during intermission
  • Assist in tracking inventory of concession supplies and alert manager when a supply order is necessary
  • Sweep lobbies and bathrooms before and after performances
  • Assist House Manager in late seating, escorting patrons safely to seats after the performance has started
  • Become knowledgeable in emergency house procedures
  • Watch all performances during final rehearsal to learn late seating points
  • Direct patrons to Lab Theatre productions from designated parking deck and/or other CBT spaces.
  • Assist patrons with accessibility inside our spaces by operating lifts, escorting patrons to accessible seating areas, and removing and/or rearranging accessible seating areas when necessary
  • Occasionally assist with directing patrons between parking locations
  • Additional duties as assigned by managers

Schedule: 

Ticket Scanners are scheduled for a combination of nights and weekends for all CBT season performances, rentals, and additional internal events.  

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications

 

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to practice patience in a fast-paced environment
  • 1 year of previous customer service experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Appreciation for performing arts

 

Evaluation Procedure

All Ticket Scanners will have evaluations once per calendar year with the House Manager.
