Job Description

Research position in the Physics and Astronomy department focused on Astronomy research. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing our knowledge of Astronomy, assist with Student Night stargazing on the Nielsen Building rooftop, set up and operate telescopes for Astronomy research, and participate in community outreach.

Expectations are for the successful candidate to make meaningful contributions to an analysis focused on Astronomical analysis. They will also be expected to report at weekly meetings. 

Duties are 5-29.5 hours a week of running simulation software and recording analysis, along with Student Night event participation and community outreach.  

Job Requirements

Undergraduate Physics Major with interest in Astronomy or Astrophysics

*This is a higher-level job for returning students

*This position has a higher pay rate due to the increased responsibility assosciated with the research

Evaluation Procedure

Assignments will be evaluated on a project by project basis as this is also a learning opportunity for the candidate.  Direct instructions and feedback will be given on a consistent basis to ensure the undergraduate researcher not just completes the task assigned but that they know the purpose for the research.
