Job Description

The Tanner lab is looking for a detail-oriented student to assist with treefrog communication research. Our work investigates how and why animals use acoustic (sound) signals to make mating decisions. We are currently interested in getting help with processing sound recordings, collected over the past field seasons, of local frogs. Most of the work will involve using RavenPro software to quantify frog call characteristics. All training will be provided. If the hired student is interested, then there will be opportunities in the future to get involved with field work.

Lab work 

  • Use audio analysis software to quantify aspects of frog calls

  • Data management  

  • Lab organization tasks as needed

Job Requirements

Student must be reliable and have good communication skills. Student must have an interest in participating in acoutic research and a positive attitude. 

Evaluation Procedure

The student will be evaluated once per semester and receive feedback on strengths and potential areas of improvement. The primary areas the student will be evaluated on will be punctuality, consistency and attention to detail, completing tasks in a timely manner, contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment, and asking relevant questions about the research being done.
