Job Description

We are seeking a reliable mobility orientation assistant to help a blind student navigate between classes and other on-campus locations. The assistant will provide guidance and general campus orientation assistance as needed. 

There are no prerequisites needed for this position, all training will be provided.
Job Requirements
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to offer clear and concise verbal descriptions of the surroundings.
  • Physical ability to assist with navigation, including walking long distances and adapting to changing terrain or conditions (e.g., stairs, ramps).
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with disabilities.
  • Prior experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired is preferred but not required.
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential for ensuring the student’s on-time arrival to classes and appointments.

Feedback from SDS recipient.  Student receiving the service would provide SDS feedback on the Mobility Assistants capability in guiding them safely and efficinetly to the appropriate designated destination.
