Job Description

We are looking for motivated undergraduate research assistants to become part of our team, working on advancing machine learning, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), machine learning, large language models, and complex systems modeling, with a particular focus on healthcare and other critical environments. This role offers a valuable opportunity for students eager to explore these technologies and gain practical experience in pioneering research.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Assist in the design and execution of experiments focused on AI, machine learning (ML), large language models (LLMs), augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), and health applications.

·         Work with staff researchers, graduate students and external collaborators.

·         Collect, analyze, and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data.

·         Contribute to developing and optimizing AI algorithms, machine learning models, and AR/VR systems.

·         Working with available AR/VR and data visualization equipment

·         Prepare research documentation, reports, and presentations.

·         Participate in day-to-day activities in ASL including staff meetings and project reviews

·         Support laboratory maintenance and operational activities, including light cleaning and equipment upkeep.

Job Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program related to computer science, analytics, engineering, healthcare, or a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated interest in ML, LLM, computer modeling and simulation, AR/VR
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Basic programming knowledge, preferably in [Python/java/other relevant languages].
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
Evaluation Procedure

Students will have scheduled weekly or biweekly one-on-one sessions with their direct supervisors. In these sessions:

  • Immediate feedback on recent work will be provided.
  • Students can discuss any challenges faced, seek clarifications, and receive guidance on ongoing tasks.
  • Opportunities for immediate course correction, if required, can be identified.
  • Each student will undergo a comprehensive performance evaluation at the end of the semester. This assessment will cover:

  • Review of tasks completed and their quality.
  • Feedback from multidisciplinary team members on collaboration and contribution.
  • Review of research documentation, reports, and presentations created.
  • Assessment of the student's ability to stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in the field.
  • Overall contribution to the team and projects.
