Job Description

Student assistant needed for helping review and post PHENIX collaboration analysis notes, format PHENIX collaboration data, and format sPHENIX collaboration data.  The PHENIX experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory took data from high energy nuclear collisions from

2000 - 2016.  The collaboration has decided to post internal analysis notes associated with a publication in a peer-reviewed journal publicly.  We are looking for a student assistant who would compile the list of analysis notes, append notes describing the origin of the analysis note, and suggest keywords before posting the note in the online Zenodo data base.  If this task is completed, the student assistant would transition to assisting with formatting PHENIX and sPHENIX data for the online HEPData data base.

 

Job Requirements

(i.e. classes completed) Major in physics or related field, with physics or nuclear engineering major preferred.  Preference for a student who has completed introductory programming and Phys 252 or planning on enrolling in those classes in the next academic year.  Experience with the Linux command line and manipulation of PDFs preferred.

 

Evaluation Procedure

Faculty Christine Nattrass will meet with student once a week, remotely or in person. They can perform anywhere from a laptop.
