Job Description

We are seeking motivated researchers to contribute to the advancement of 3D concrete printing (3DCP) by improving its mechanical and rheological performance. The candidate will work on developing innovative cementitious materials and optimizing their behavior for additive manufacturing in construction.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help prepare and label test samples and materials.

  • Assist in mixing and casting concrete for 3D printing trials.

  • Record measurements from lab equipment.

  • Support experiments on material strength, durability, and bonding performance.

  • Keep the lab workspace clean and follow all safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study at UT Knoxville.

  • Must be enrolled in at least one UTK summer term course.

  • Current undergraduate student (any engineering major; interest in sustainability, engineering, or construction a plus).

  • Willingness to learn new lab skills and follow safety procedures.

  • Operate and assist in 3D concrete printing processes and equipment

  • Good attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team.

Evaluation Procedure

Students and direct supervisors will maintain open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. Direct supervisors will conduct a formal performance evaluation at least once per semester. The position may be renewed if FWS hiring requirements are met.
