Job Description

Get ready to dive into the exciting world of theatre craftsmanship! As part of our Scene Shop Work-Study Team, you'll team up with our skilled Carpenters to bring sets to life and work on theatre improvement projects. This season at the Clarence Brown is full of amazing shows with really great projects to work on. We will be opening our new theatre and we're bringing back our large Christmas show with lots of automation and special FX work to do!

Your Role:

Your creative journey begins with:

-Hands-On Creativity: Imagine being at the heart of bringing a director's vision to life! Working in a scene shop allows you to work directly with designers, turning drawings and plans into tangible scenery.

-Artistic Collaboration: It's like being part of a creative symphony! You'll collaborate with talented individuals from various backgrounds – carpenters, painters, prop makers – to collectively craft a captivating world on stage.

Skill Mastery: From wielding power tools with finesse to honing your craftsmanship, the scene shop is a classroom where you'll acquire practical skills that can be applied in both artistic and real-world settings.

Behind-the-Scenes Magic: Ever wondered how a spectacular set seemingly appears out of thin air? You'll be privy to the secrets behind the magic, witnessing the transformation from raw materials to breathtaking landscapes.

-Problem-Solving Adventures: Each project comes with its own set of challenges and puzzles to solve. Think of it as a series of creative challenges that keep your mind engaged and your problem-solving skills sharp.

Physical and Mental Engagement: No two days are alike in the scene shop. Whether you're constructing towering castles or crafting delicate period furniture, the work keeps you physically active and mentally stimulated.

Unlimited Creativity: Have a wild idea? The scene shop is the place to experiment and push artistic boundaries. Your creativity knows no limits as you turn unconventional concepts into remarkable stage elements.
