Students are expected to write a research abstract. Students are expected to spend at least 10 hours a week on lab work. Students will need to keep a weekly log of activities in their lab notebook. The 10 hours can include literature review, lab technique, training sessions, acquiring/analyzing data, and meetings. Students will attend a weekly 1-hour lab meeting. These lab meetings will include literature review, group data presentations, and professional development. Depending on projects and interest, students will deliver a mid-semester report on either molecular targets for cardiovascular damage, methods for cardiovascular biomechanics, or molecular targets for neurological damage. This report will include a literature review document and presentation of future directions. The students are expected to present their work either as an abstract submission to national conference or present as a poster at the University of Tennessee Undergraduate Research Symposium. |
