The Cinema Studies Lab Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Cinema facilities in Walters Academic Building. Primary responsibilities include working in the facilities' editing/animation lab to ensure a productive, safe, and respectful environment for students working on film and media projects. The monitor provides technical assistance, enforces lab policies, alerts faculty and supervisory staff to technical problems, and maintains the cleanliness and functionality of workstations and equipment. Secondary responsibilities include surveying the Cinema facilities in Walters Academic Building and reporting any concerns to faculty and providing project advice and mentoring to students enrolled in lower-division (e.g., 100- and 200-level courses). Supervise the computer lab during assigned hours to ensure a quiet and professional work environment. Provide basic technical support for lab users, particularly in the use of film editing and media software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.). Assist students with questions related to file storage, media workflows, and proper lab practices. Monitor and report hardware or software issues to the Supervising Faculty or IT support. Ensure proper use of equipment. Enforce lab policies regarding food, noise, time limits, and equipment usage. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab space, including resetting stations after use. Log lab usage, incidents, or equipment problems accurately and promptly. Participate in training sessions and occasional staff meetings.
