Job Description

Purpose or Role of the Position Within the Organization

This position supports the Tennessee State 4-H Office by assisting with marketing and communications efforts. The student assistant will work closely with the Communications Coordinator to support statewide communications, record retention, event planning, and coordination with the 4-H Foundation. General 4-H office support is also included.

Responsibilities Associated With the Position

  • Assist with marketing and communications efforts for Tennessee 4-H
  • Create and schedule social media content
  • Help maintain and monitor 4-H social media platforms
  • Assist with photography and content collection for promotional use
  • Maintain records related to youth awards, recognition, and program documentation
  • Assist with communications and coordination related to the 4-H Foundation
  • Help prepare materials and logistics for statewide 4-H events
  • Provide on-site support during state events, including occasional weekend responsibilities
  • Assist with general office duties such as organization, printing, filing, and preparation tasks
  • Communicate via email with staff and partners regarding assigned tasks
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
Job Requirements

Required:

  • Current University of Tennessee student
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new systems

 

Preferred:

  • Interest in marketing, communications, or youth development
  • Experience or familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications
  • Experience or familiarity with Canva for content creation
  • Basic knowledge of WordPress or willingness to learn
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Photography experience or interest

 

 

Evaluation Procedure

Students and direct supervisors will maintain open and ongoing communication regarding performance and development. A formal evaluation will be conducted at least once per semester.
