Job Description
General lab tasks such as:
- Media making
- Cleaning glassware
- Preparing buffers and solutions
- Organizing inventory
- Sterilizing dry goods (tips, tubes, etc.)
- Eye wash check
 
Lab specific tasks:
- Nematode rearing and husbandry involving insects.
- Assisting lab personnel with experiments as necessary (e.g. counting, plating, labeling, pipetting). 

 

 
Job Requirements

Good communication with in-lab mentor.

Consistent attendance and tracking of hours.

Ability once trained to work independently and safely in the lab.

Attention to detail and ability to organize.

Comfort with a research lab environment and with insects.

 
Evaluation Procedure

Direct lab supervisor will give feedback and provide support for daily tasks. PI will meet with the student as needed, get a report from the direct supervisor, and have an end of semester exit meeting to discuss areas of excellence, needs for improvement, and retention.
