As a Run Crew Member or part of the Stage Management Team, you'll have the exciting opportunity to be assigned to one specific departmental task that aligns with your interests within the theatre department. This task could range from stage managing, working as a board operator (lighting, sound, projections), working backstage assisting show functions and various technical needs (scenic, props, fly rail, electrics, sound, projections, special effects), or working as part of the costume crew (assisting with costumes, quick changes, hair/wigs, and/or make-up). This hands-on experience allows you to delve deeper into a specific aspect of theatre production, enhancing your overall skill set and providing valuable insights into your chosen area of focus. Tier 5 requires crew or stage management experience on at least 3 previous shows. Specific experience in any one area is not required as training will be provided for all positions. Enthusiasm to learn and be part of a collaborative team is essential. Work hours are generally Eveings and Weekends. Each production has its' own unique production schedule. Abitlity to be at all rehearsals and performances is essential with limited flexibility. Any conflicts should be brought to the attention immediately of the Production Stage Manager so it can be determined if it/they can be worked around. Key Responsibilities: - ALL : Tier 5 employees will be given positions with greater responsibility.
- ALL : Mentorship of students new to or less experienced production run crews or stage management team.
- ALL : Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals and performances is critical.
- ALL : Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with fellow run crew members, stage managers, and other production staff to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Respond promptly to instructions from the stage management team.
- Stage Management :
- Leadership role.
- Rehearsal Prep work on week prior to the start of rehearsals.
- Attendance at all rehearsals and performances from the beginning.
- Collaboration as a team to help ensure safe and nurturing environment for all.
- Paper work preparation of Run Lists and Prop Pre-Set Lists.
- Training and supervision of Run Crew members backstage.
- Information gathering and dissemination of information to actors, crew, and full artistic team.
- Time management.
- If Stage Manager for a show, responsible for creation of the calling script.
- Scenic/Deck Crew Members :
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure the safety and functionality of set pieces.
- Execute efficient and seamless stage changes during performances, following the cues provided by stage management.
- Collaborate with fellow crew members to ensure smooth scene transitions.
- Report any issues with scenic elements.
- Props Management:
- Collaborate with the props team to ensure all necessary props are ready and in their designated places before each performance.
- Responsible for the organization and maintenance of props.
- Costume/Wardrobe Crew:
- Preparation and set up of costumes for each rehearsal/performance.
- Assisting actors with costumes, quick changes, hair/wig needs, and make-up needs for each performance.
- Ensure that costumes are properly cared for and stored.
- Lighting, Sound, and Projections Run Crew:
- Work closely with the technical crew to set up and operate audio-visual equipment as needed.
- Perform pre-show checks of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and address any technical issues that may arise during performances.
Qualifications : - Previous crew or stage management work on at least 3 previous shows.
- Enthusiasm for theatre and a keen interest in behind-the-scenes production.
- Dependability
