Job Description

Purpose/Role of the Position Within the Organization

The Center for Care & Resilience (CCR) supports the well-being, resilience, and success of University of Tennessee students through care coordination and connection to campus and community resources. CCR serves as a central point of care for students experiencing personal, emotional, academic, or situational challenges and works collaboratively with campus partners to promote a culture of support and resilience.

The individual who serves as in the Resilience Ambassador position plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Center. This position provides administrative, organizational, and outreach support that enhances both the efficiency of CCR services and contributes to outreach and education effors by helping increase awareness of available resources and programs, such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) programming and other departmental initiatives. The Resilience Ambassador also serves to liaison between the Center and the broader student community, helping to promote resilience, mental health literacy, and help-seeking behaviors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative Operations:

  • Monitor and assist with management of shared departmental email accounts.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and direct communications to appropriate staff members.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and room reservations.
  • Assist with maintaining office calendars and departmental scheduling systems.
  • Support inventory management and ordering of office supplies, educational materials, and program resources.
  • Assist with data entry and basic reporting projects.

Mental Health First Aid Program Support:

  • Maintain MHFA registration records and participant databases.
  • Assist with training logistics, including participant communications and preparation of training materials.
  • Monitor training enrollment and waitlists.
  • Assist with tracking program metrics and evaluation data.

General Department Support:

  • Prepare materials for meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Support special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining welcoming and organized office spaces.

Outreach and Engagement:

  • Represent CCR at campus outreach events, resource fairs, tabling activities, and educational programs.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of outreach initiatives that promote student well-being and resilience.
  • Help distribute educational materials and resources across campus.
  • Support engagement efforts for resilience programs.

Program Support:

  • Assist with event logistics, including setup, registration, and participant engagement.
  • Help track attendance, participation, and program outcomes.
  • Support special projects and collaborative campus initiatives.

Peer Engagement:

  • Provide information about CCR services and resources to students.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for student well-being initiatives.
  • Assist staff in identifying opportunities to enhance student outreach and engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an office or administrative environment.
  • Experience with outreach, event planning, student organizations, leadership programs, or peer education.
  • Ability to speak comfortably in small-group and public-facing settings.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.
  • Interest in student support services, public health, higher education, social work, student affairs, communications, or mental health initiatives.
Evaluation Procedure

Student employees will receive ongoing supervision and coaching from their designated supervisor. Formal evaluations will occur at least once per semester and will assess:

  • Reliability and attendance
  • Quality and accuracy of work
  • Professionalism and communication
  • Initiative and problem-solving
  • Ability to complete assigned responsibilities independently
  • Contribution to departmental goals

Informal feedback will be provided regularly through supervision meetings and project check-ins. Students will have opportunities to discuss professional development goals and receive guidance for continued growth.
